Have you ever driven on Delaware's or Maryland's drive on the beaches? Shocker Towing has built a truck just to handle recovering stuck or broken down vehicles on the beaches. These services require a truck that is equipped with 4-wheel drive (4x4) and special techniques to handle these situations.
Delaware and Maryland have the most difficult beaches to drive on. Our beaches are difficult due to the sand not packing like the famous beaches in the Carolinas or Florida for example. This causes a lot of vehicles to become stuck each year in our area. Most companies that offer beach recovery and towing use skid steers to snatch or drag the vehicle, due to the difficulty of using trucks to provide this service. These companies have not perfected driving on the beach and do not teach you how to successfully drive on the beach for your next visit.
When your truck breaks down on the side of the road, do you call your local home builder to drag your car home with their tractors? NO. You call a towing company because you want the truck that you worked so hard to buy, treated with respect and dignity! Shocker Towing has seen this common problem and decided to solve it, by building a truck, in order to treat your truck with the dignity and respect it deserves.
The question is not if you will ever get stuck, it is when! It happens to everyone, even the beach patrol officers, and Shocker Towing has been stuck before.
When you're stuck on the beach, do you want a tow truck with a winch to gently pull your truck out of the holes, or just a guy with a pickup to snatch your vehicle out of the hole?
Straps and chains used by others can break due to the force, causing pieces to go flying. These flying pieces can cause damage to your car as well as injury/death to someone in the vehicle or within 100+ feet. Your safety and others are not worth the risk!
The image provided to the right shows a car we winched out on the beach after someone broke a strap, sending the metal end through the back window! Luckily no one was hurt.
Why not just let a guy drag your vehicle off the beach? What's the difference?
Using a chain to drag a car off the beach risks the safety of you, your car, the tow operator, and any innocent bystanders.
Did a CV axle brake causing you to lose the 4-wheel drive? Dragging a truck off the beach with this problem will cause the CV axle to swing around and could break off brake lines, sway bar ends, and other problems that will cost you more money than needed. We see problems like this weekly and have solved the problem of causing more damage by using a real tow truck with a wheel lift.
Here is a list of just a few of the reasons we have towed vehicles off of the beach. But the list goes on;
Broken CV axle, bad starter, bad fuel pump, lost keys, flat tire(s), broken lug nuts, engine misfire, broken U-joint, drive shaft falling out, broken tie rod end, broken ball joint and more.
